Mangatoro Scenic Reserve

Ngapaeruru Road is located 15km east of Dannevirke.  You’ll find bush walks and swimming holes here.  Look out for the giant Totara, said to be one of the largest in New Zealand. This is a nice walk through an impressive stand of native trees. From the small grassy carpark with picnic tables, the walk descends about 20 metres and does a circuit through the trees. It can also be wet and boggy in patches after rain. There is a map at the start of the walk. You can do a circuit, or exit back on to Ngapaeruru Road about 500 meters from the carpark.
