Located in the South Waikato town of Tokoroa, Lake Moananui Reserve provides a great lakeside walking trail along with plenty of open space to enjoy.
Established in 1975 when a dam was built in the Matarawa Stream, Lake Moananui is home to a range of native plants and birdlife.
The easy 30 minute South Waikato walking trail around Lake Moananui takes in native kowhai, rimu, totara, and other fauna and is considered a wetland area with black scaup, grey heron and tui, and many other birdlife all calling the area home.
The reserve itself boasts picnic spots, playgrounds, ornamental flower beds and general wide open spaces to enjoy.
