Join the Hororata community for a magical festival featuring amazing entertainment, live music, food trucks, stalls, hands-on science demos, and the breathtaking hot air balloon night glow this May.

The Hororata Glow Festival is a spectacular event brought to you by the Hororata Community Trust and Ballooning Canterbury for the benefit of this rural community. PLEASE NOTE: If the weather is not favourable on Saturday 10th of May, the event will be postponed to Sunday 11th of May. This may be due to wind or other weather that affects the balloon’s performance. If the event is postponed, it will run regardless of the weather on Sunday 11th May. Tickets will automatically be transferred. 

*the balloons do not leave the ground during the performance.

Ticketing - on sale NOW (no gate sales)

  • Early bird discounted adult tickets on sale NOW - early bird tickets are limited so don’t delay secure yours now!
  • Early Bird Adult ticket only $19.00 each
  • General Admission adult tickets $24.00 each
  • Kids under 16 years go FREE - Please claim a ticket for them so number can be managed.

All ticket purchasers will go in the draw to win a balloon flight for four people with Ballooning Canterbury. 

There will be NO gate sales. All tickets to the event will be sold through Flicket

Certified Self Contained Motorcaravan Parking

Best seat in the house! Overnight parking is available in the Hororata Domain for fully self-contained motorhomes. Please note that only motorhomes and caravans may park in this area, if you have friends or family coming to the event they must park in the main car park.

  • Entry Times:
    • Friday, 9th May: 12 pm – 6 pm
    • Saturday, 10th May: 9 am – 2 pm
    • Enter through Gate C. 
    • No booking required. 
  • Departure: All vehicles must leave by 12 pm on Monday, 12th May.
  • Cost: $10 donation per van, per night. Please have the correct change to ensure quick entry.

The motorhome parking area is managed by NZMCA volunteers. Please note:

  • Only certified self-contained motorhomes and caravans are allowed.
  • Camping in tents is not permitted.
  • Dogs are permitted in the motorhome area but are not allowed inside the event venue.
  • Access to the event venue is only available during event hours.
  • Public toilets will be open outside of the event hours, enter off Hororata Road.

If you have friends or family attending, they must park in the main car park, as the motorhome area is strictly for motorhomes and caravans.
